Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued contempt of court notices to care taker Prime Minister (PM) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, the establishment secretary and principal secretary to PM in transfer of grade-20 officers’ case, seeking reply from them within seven days.
A three-member bench of the SC headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja heard the case.
The petitioner Shafqat Naghmi presented a list of 20 officers in the court who were transferred during March.
The court in its suo moto notice had directed the federal government and establishment division to explain as to why transfer orders were issued despite court orders. Making transfers in this way is breach of law and constitution, the court said. The details provided to the court reflect that the court’s orders have been violated since the caretaker government was not authorised to make these transfers, the court noted.
The hearing of the case was adjourned for one week.
