The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will expedite construction work on Margalla Avenue by removing hurdles for an early completion of the avenue.
The plan will be chalked out so that it could be linked to some major avenues after passing through Sector D-12.
Talking to APP, the CDA spokesperson said that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz had directed the engineering wing to expedite the pace of construction work at the avenue inline with international standards by utilising all available resources so that the commuters could enjoy the facility.
“CDA Chairman said that Margalla Avenue would not only provide an easy access to the commuters from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) but would also reduce the traffic burden on Kashmir Highway while entering the federal capital,” he added.
“Margalla Avenue Project was initiated to facilitate the traffic from GT Road at the cost of Rs 588 million,” Engineering Wing Member Sanaullah Aman said.
He said that the Margalla Avenue was 9 kilometers long and had culverts, adding that the avenue would consist of 2 lanes of 12 feet width and an overhead bridge would also be constructed on the railway lane.
Clean and Green Islamabad: The Clean and Green Campaign of the
Capital Development Authority (CDA) would reach Sector G-11 on Monday after accomplishing the tasks the authority was assigned in sector I-10 and G-10.
Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz said that the authority would introduce new varieties of seasonal flowers to enhance the beauty of the federal capital.
Syed Tahir Shahbaz said this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the Spring Flowers Show 2013 which was organised by CDA in collaboration with Islamabad Horticultural Society (IHS).

CDA chairman said that the Authority was making efforts to further enhance the beauty of the capital by developing landscapes, adding that all kinds of encroachments would be eradicated to restore the beauty of the city.
He said that the increased participation of the private sector in the flowers’ exhibition reflected the efforts of people from different walks of life.
“We have chalked out a comprehensive programme under the Clean and Green Islamabad campaign, which is being implemented in letter and spirit,” said the Chairman CDA.
He said that CDA had also involved school children, trade unions, civil society and citizens in the campaign to resolve the common issues faced by the public.
He said that apart from beautification, flowers were a great source of recreation and entertainment for the residents and such exhibitions encouraged people to plant flowers at their homes.
The chairman directed the Environment Wing of the Authority to increase the number of sapling which were to be planted during the spring and the monsoon tree plantation campaigns this year.
He further directed the concerned authorities of CDA to focus on indigenous species of trees, as it would further beautify the city in harmony with the climatic conditions of the capital.
