Government teachers of 11 districts of Balochistan on Saturday refused to perform duties during May 11 elections due to security threats.
According to details, the government teachers association Balochistan has said that banned organisations had threatened to target the staff performing duties at polling centres. They were of the view that Mekran, Kalat, Khuzdar, Chaghi and Noshki districts were security-risk areas and arrangements made for security of polling staff were unsatisfactory.
The teachers association claimed that they were repeatedly receiving threats from defunct organizations for staying away of the electoral process otherwise they had to face dire consequences.
