Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt have lost their appeals against the ICC suspension, but the Pakistani bowler has not lost the battle yet, according to his lawyer, Ravi Sukul.
Speaking exclusively from Ahmedabad, where the Guyana-based lawyer has come to represent some other case in India, said, “I am very disappointed with the CAS outcome, but strongly feel that everything is not lost yet for Asif”.
“Asif can still appeal against the CAS judgement in Federal Court of Switzerland. I have not spoken to Asif on this, but am expecting him to speak to me tonight and discuss on this subject. He always seeks my advice and has few days time to appeal at Swiss Court”, he added.
Barrister Ravi Sukul and his wife, Savita Sukul provided legal representation to Mohammed Asif at CAS.
“While punishing Asif, the ICC clearly violated and beached the Article 6 law on Human Rights”.
“I argued at the CAS that ICC’s procedure was flawed. The ICC decided to hold proceedings even before a criminal trial took place in the UK”.
