Tauqir Ali Khan, an accused in the case pertaining to a scam involving illegal sale of ephedrine, agreed on Friday to testify against Ali Musa Gillani, son of former premier Yousaf Raza Gillani, local media reported.

Tauqir Ali made this statement after he was presented in an anti-narcotics court in Rawalpindi by Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) after remaining in judicial remand. ANF, the prosecution agency in the ephedrine case, alleged that Tauqir was the front man for Musa Gillani, and was mediating between health officials and two multinational pharmaceutical companies Berlix and Danas.

The scam involving Rs7 billion, surfaced in February 2012 after the Supreme Court pointed out political involvement in the alleged illegal allocation of 9,500kg ephedrine to two pharmaceutical companies and its subsequent allocation for sale in the local market.
