Transparent elections will defeat terrorist elements: Hasan

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hasan has said that transparent elections will prove to be an ultimate defeat for the terrorist elements in the metropolitan.
He expressed these views on Monday while addressing a luncheon reception held at Idara Noor-e-Haq, Karachi office of JI, in the honour of the newly elected office bearers of Karachi Press Club (KPC).
He said that if the general elections were held in a transparent manner, then it would prove to be the last nail in the coffin of terrorist and extortion mafia. Hasan further said that the honest JI leadership had the capability to bring durable positive change in the country.
Denouncing the culture of target killing and political intolerance in the megalopolis, he said that voters of other political parties, other than a particular terrorist group.
On the occasion, the JI chief hailed the role of media in general and journalists in particular for engaging in bold reporting in the worst working environment of the city. He said all those journalists who have reported facts and who refused several pressures, have played a commendable role. He hoped that the electronic and print media would play a positive role in order to bring a change in the country.
JI Sindh chief Dr Mairajul-Huda Siddiqui, while addressing on the occasion, said that the plunderers have once again submitted the nomination papers and it seemed that they would easily clear their scrutiny process, as the Election Commission was not discharging its duties accordingly. He urged the media that it should play its due role to foster awareness among the people of the country regarding political activities. Siddiqui hailed the democratic rule of the KPC and said that it was a great achievement.
Furthermore, JI Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti said that peace, tolerance and democracy were the need of the hour. He termed the role of the media as significant during the upcoming general elections and said that the JI believed in the freedom of media. He further said that contesting elections in the city was tantamount to put the life of JI leaders at risk, but despite all odds, they have entered in to the arena in order to clean the city from extortionists and target killers, Mahenti added.
On the occasion, KPC President Imtiaz Faran said that media was among the four pillars of any modern country, adding that the media would play a vital role in bringing a solid change in the country if it received constitutional cover.
