Lokai Theater staged a Punjabi musical, Kahay Shah Hussain, based on the life and philosophy of Sufi poet Madhu Lal Hussain at Alhamra, The Mall, on Friday.
A large number of people lauded the play. The play was written and directed by Khaqan Haider Ghazi. Exhilarated to the core and spell bounded with the performance, the audience remained glued to their seats till the curtain fell.
The great poet’s life was portrayed in a poetic manner. While the actors did their best to depict the intended, stage lights and set décor added nicely to the overall effect.
The director of the play, Khaqan Haider Ghazi told Pakistan Today that the play aimed at promoting the vision of the great poet who sought his answers from God and not people. Shah Hussain believed in loving God through loving His creations, he said. Shah Hussain’s poetry inspires a thought process that leads one closer to God, he concluded.
“Watching the play was a divine experience for me. I have never watched such a play in my life. This was really amazing. It changed my perception about Faqiri,” said Inaam-ul-haq, a student from LUMS.
