The appointment of the prosecutor in Shazeb Khan case, a slain youngster of Karachi, has been declared illegal by the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday.

The SHC judge Justice Maqbool Baqar heard a petition pertaining to the appointment of the new prosecutor in his chamber.

The SHC termed the appointment illegal and directed Sindh prosecutor general to appoint another prosecutor.

Earlier on Saturday anti-terrorism court had adjourned the hearing of a murder trial after a lawyer for the complainant expressed reservations over the replacement of a public prosecutor in the Shahzeb murder case.

When the matter came up for hearing before Judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon of the ATC-III on Saturday for the evidence of prosecution witnesses, prosecutor Shahid Mahmood informed the court that the provincial law department had issued a notification replacing him by Advocate Muzaffar Solangi, a prosecutor at the ATC-II, in the present case.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court disposed of Shahrukh Jatoi suo motu case with directives to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to complete its investigation and take action against the ten people who helped Shahrukh Jatoi escape from the country.

A three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, resumed the hearing of the murder case of a 20 year-old Shahzeb Khan in Karachi. The CJ remarked that it was a gross negligence on part of the FIA officials who failed to check a person fleeing the country without even a boarding card.
