Due to sheer negligence of doctors of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), a newborn lost her life on Friday. The infant was born in Rawalpindi’s Holy Family Hospital and was shifted to PIMS when she developed a very serious intestine infection and jaundice. Although she was to be kept on the ventilator but due to shortage of ventilators, the condition of the girl worsened.
According to the ECG report, the baby was alive but the lady doctor who was supposed to look after her was not present on duty, as a result of which, the infant expired.
Parents held the PIMS’ staff, especially Dr Nadeem Akhtar responsible for the death of their daughter. They also filed an application with the director of the hospital to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
