After the Badami Bagh incident, security at churches and Christian residential areas has been increased to avoid any untoward incident in Rawalpindi.
Punjab Home Department directed the district administration and police to beef up security of Christian residential areas and their worship places.
A senior police officer said that additional police personnel had been deployed at churches and Christian residential areas to ensure foolproof security to minorities in the garrison city.
He said after the gory incident of Badami Bagh, police had learnt a lesson as the poor security arrangements could result in any untoward incident.
It may be noted that the Christian communities across the country took out rallies against torching of over 100 houses of Christians at Lahore’s Joseph Colony after alleged blasphemous remarks.
On the other hand, Christian of the area said that the prevailing law and order situation had made the Christians vulnerable to terrorist activities and crowded localities could be easily targeted by the miscreants if foolproof security arrangements were not made.
