Police arrested a teenager on Sunday who along with his accomplices allegedly killed his father, brother and two sisters over a family dispute in the limits of Jatli Police Station. Police sources said that two teams had been working to arrest the accused. “We arrested Muhammad Usman, a grade 10 student, along with his accomplice Muhammad Munir,” a police spokesman said. Last Thursday, the brutal incident took place in a village Mohra Janjua of Tehsil Gujar Khan. According to the police, Muhammad Azad wanted to marry off her daughter Ayesha to his relative Junaid, while his wife Riffat and son Usman were against Azad’s decision and went to Riffat’s brother’s home. On the day of incident, Usman along with his three cousins reached the house of his father and entered the room where his family members were sleeping. He opened indiscriminate firing killing his father Azad, 54, brother Qadeer, 27 and sisters Ayesha, 24, and Fiza, 21, on the spot. Police sources said that an FIR was lodged against three persons, out of which two had been arrested and efforts were underway to arrest the third, Niaz Ahmed. Meanwhile, the police spokesman informed that during the operation against kite flying and its sellers police lodged 34 cases in different police stations of Rawalpindi and arrested 36 accused. 12,167 kites and 247 packets of chemical were also recovered from the custody of the accused. City Police Officer Azhar Hameed Khokhar warned that all Station House Officers SHOs who had failed to control kite flying in their areas would face departmental action, including suspension.
