Talks for seat adjustment between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl on Saturday entered final stage, JUI-F sources told Pakistan Today.
They also said initially both the sides have reached a consensus on seat adjustment in several constituencies where they would support each other’s candidates, adding that final announcement would be made during a joint news conference by top leadership of both parties soon.
A source said the JUI-F had already formed special committees which were negotiating with the PML-N for seat adjustment in Punjab and Balochistan. In coming days, he said, the PML-N would also assign members to hold talks with the JUI-F in this regard.
“We and PML-N have reached a consensus on the seat adjustments in Sindh,” another source disclosed.
Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, JUI-F secretary-general, confirmed that both sides had initiated talks and they were heading in a positive manner.
He noted that the empowered consultative committees from both political parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) were in contact and had held number of sittings in this connection.
To a question, the cleric said in Punjab his party had formed a special committee that would initiate formal talks once the PML-N announced a body in this regard.
“We are now waiting for the some response from the PML-N regarding Punjab in this connection,” the cleric said.
Clerics Muhammad Amjad and Rasheed Ahmed Ludhianvi are leading the JUI-F committee.
