Wafaqul Madaris delegation meets IGP

A seven-member delegation of Wafaqul Madaris led by Maulana Asadullah on Saturday met with the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari at the Central Police Office here.
Karachi Acting Additional IG Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh, zonal DIGs of the metropolis and other officers were also present on the occasion.
A police statement said that the delegation apprised the IGP of their reservations regarding security problems.
It also informed the police officials about the steps that were being taken regarding establishing inter-faith harmony.
The delegation further informed that over 1,700 seminaries in Karachi and other parts of the province were imparting religious education and that some 20,000 religious scholars and teachers were serving in these institutions.
The meeting reviewed matters pertaining to the investigation of the killing of some religious scholars and seminary students.
The IGP assured the delegation that action had been initiated for bringing the nominated accused to the book and that the investigation process would be carried out without distinction.
He informed that all possible security steps were being taken to ensure the security of the religious scholars, teachers and students as well as mosques, seminaries, imambargahs, besides religious places of non-Muslims.
