Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday announced to confirm the services of contractual employees working in various departments.
More than 100,000 government workers from Grade 1 to 16 are going to benefit from the decision.
The chief minister made the announcement while speaking at a ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Karkunan Pakistan.
He announced that all the employees hired by the previous provincial governments had also been made permanent. He said that he wanted to implement more development projects in the province but needed permission from the chief election commissioner. “All these people were employed by the previous government by taking bribes. But we are still confirming their jobs,” he said, while appealing to the people to vote for the PML-N in the next elections.
The chief minister pledged that projects similar to the Metro Bus would be built in Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar if his party was voted to power. He also criticised the federal government for the recent hike in petroleum prices.
