US working with Pakistan to overcome energy crisis: Nuland

Spokesperson of State Department on Friday underlined Washington has extended assistance to Pakistan for reformation and extension of various existing power projects.

The United States says it is fully aware of energy needs of Pakistan and working along with it to overcome the power crises.

In a daily briefing in Washington‚ Spokesperson of State Department Victoria Nuland said with the assistance of United States nine hundred megawatt electricity will be added in the National grid this year which will benefit about two million households.

She said Washington has also extended assistance to Pakistan for reformation and extension of various existing power projects.

These include extension in Mangla and Tarbela Dams besides expanding Guddo‚ Jamshoro and Muzaffargarh power stations.

She said the United States is also supporting Pakistan in construction of Sat Para and Gomal Zam dams.

To a question‚ Nuland said Washington is working with Pakistan to strengthen‚ deepen‚ and improve its counterterrorism relationship.
