To make the upcoming polio immunisation drive successful, Rawalpindi Health Department on Friday sought help of volunteers of the Civil Defence Department (CCD).

The three-day anti-polio vaccination drive was due to begin from February 18 in Rawalpindi and its rural areas.

Volunteers of the CDD, along with the staff of the health department, would visit door to door to administer anti-polio drops to children below five years of age during the immunisation campaign.

However, the issue regarding provision of remuneration to the volunteers associated with the immunisation campaign had not been settled down as during the previous drive the volunteers had refused to receive meagre amounts and had decided to perform duties free of charge.
