The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Monday decided in principle to contest the upcoming general elections. The party will formally announce the decision within the next few days. According to sources, through its workers, the PAT conducted a country-wide survey to seek opinion of the people from various walks of life about whether it should take part in the upcoming elections or not. The survey revealed that the majority of the people was of the opinion that the PAT should contest elections in coalition with like-minded parties, eager to bring revolutionary change in the society. According to the sources in the party, though Dr Tahirul Qadri had resigned from the chairmanship of the party, he would informally supervise and guide the party’s political activities.
