The Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) on Saturday warned that all options are open if the government tried to lift governor’s rule in Balochistan.
Addressing a press conference at the central secretariat, MWM Secretary General Allama Amin Shaheedi said all 26 parties, which attended an all-party conference in Quetta, have agreed that Raisani’s government had harboured terrorists and rubbed salt into wounds of the people.
“All options are open before us if any attempt is made to restore Raisani government,” he said.
Terming it an insult to the blood of those who were killed by terrorists, Shaheedi said that some political and religious parties were trying to get the provincial government restored for their illegal financial, political and anti-state gains.
The MWM leader said that the restoration of the provincial government in Balochistan would not be tolerated at any cost, as the former government was equally responsible for the sectarian killings in the province.
Shaheedi pointed out that some parties started holding protest demonstrations and strikes soon after the imposition of governor’s rule in Balochistan. He added that these parties did not bother to stage walkouts and hold protest demonstrations when innocent people, including Hazaras, teachers, judges, bureaucrats and government officials were being killed in Balochistan.
That reflects their hypocritical approach, as they could tolerate the continued killings of the people but would not tolerate any setup that may not bring them some personal and financial benefit, no matter how ineligible that setup could be.
Allama Shaheedi said any attempt aimed at restoring Raisani’s government would be an insult to those killed on Alamdar Road, adding that Shias, especially Hazara community would resist any such move.
The MWM leader warned that if the Balochistan government was restored, then one thing should be kept in mind that alongside the Balochistan government the federal government would not be able to survive and rule anymore.
Taking reporters onboard, the MWM leader said that President Asif Zardari had assured them through Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, PAC Chairman Nadeem Afzal Gondal and Senior Federal Minister Syed Khurshid Shah that the government would not withdraw the governor’s rule from the province at all costs.
Most of the political parties, Shaheedi said, have agreed to maintain the governor’s rule in the province until the formation of a caretaker setup.
To a question, Shaheedi said that most of the political forces from and outside Balochistan, including the PPP have assured them that Nawab Aslam Raisani, Ali Madad Jattak and Mir Asim Kurd would not be included in the caretaker setup.
