Afghan war affects entire region: Zardari


President Asif Ali Zardari has said that despite limited resources Pakistan is helping in restructuring of Afghanistan
He was addressing the 5th quadrilateral summit of Pakistan‚ Iran‚ Afghanistan and Tajikistan in Dushanbe‚ Tajikistan. He said this is time to work collectively to address the regional issues.
He said Pakistan is also providing scholarships to Afghan students.
President Asif Ali Zardari said that the Afghan war has affected the entire region.
President Asif Ali Zardari told his counterparts from Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan that his country was committed to completing the Iran-Pakistan (IP) and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline projects.


  1. The President is absolutely right. A war ridden Afghanistan affects to entire region. All know it well that what President Zardari has said -and has consistently been saying- is worth to ponder over. Unfortunately, couple of regional countries like India and then Afghanistan itself though confess its a truth yet are not willing to give up playing with a fire. India- for example- has suffered a lot at the hands of terrorists; continues to fuel violence in Pakistan through Afghanistan. Some times by directly providing logistic support to a bunch of dissidents in Balouchistan. Some times by indirectly funding to Afghan Talibans to under take terror activities in Pakistan. While fire is burning US moves forward quietly and fuel it further. Pushed hard against the wall Pakistan , in the end, is left with no other choice but to defend its interests fully.

    This cat and mouse game bring nothing but death and destruction. Ordinary citizens have to suffer.

    All need to realize that it will do not good to any one. All the stake holders, after so much bloodshed and destruction, must sit and work out a way forward towards a durable peace and stability of the region. With sincerity its not difficult to achieve.
