The teachers’ protest regarding the non-upgradation of pay scales entered its fourth day, as teachers on Thursday boycotted classes in protest.
The teachers had been protesting in a peaceful manner for three days, but began to boycott classes after receiving no response from the authorities.
Teachers boycotted classes from grades one to the Masters level, and demanded the implementation of the upgradation of 1,800 teachers from 20 model colleges.
The protest was led by the Central Academic Staff Association (CASA) of Islamabad Model Colleges.
The teachers said “We have been desperately waiting for the upgradation of our scales according to the Time Scale Promotion Formula (TSPF) for the last two years.”
CASA President Aftab Tariq said, “The annual examinations are near and we will continue boycotting classes if our demands are not met.”
The teachers’ community has also been denied a hiring facility, and those who have been availing it are not paid the hiring amount in time, he said.
