Former Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that if the government wants to foil conspiracies hatching to delay polls then it should immediately announce the date for general elections.

Talking to media persons in the Supreme Court premises on Wednesday, Sherpao said that some elements want to derail democracy for personal gains and conspiracies were being hatched to malign the election process.

Sherpao’s lawyer, Iftikhar Gilani speaking on the occasion, said that Akbar Bugti’s murder was not terrorism and the case should be pursued in a civilian court. He said that if the Akbar Bugti’s murder would be labeled as an act of terrorism, then Taliban would also term killings of their comrades by Pakistan Army as terrorism.

Iftikhar Gilani claimed that his client then interior minister was not aware about any action (s) against Akbar Bugti.
