Who has the real power?

We shall be grateful to Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan for officially stating what is known for a long time; where the faultline is — they have nominated three politicians as guarantors for any peace talk with army. The three guarantors are Nawaz Sharif of Muslim League, Munawar Hassan of Jamat-e-Islami and Fazal-ur-Rehman of Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam. Taliban’s desire to talk to army only, not with the government, shows who is the real power in the country. They renewed threats against those political parties who are ideologically not in line with Taliban. Consequently ANP, PPP and MQM are on Taliban’s hit list. Recent daring attacks on civilians and security agencies in Karachi and tribal areas prove the point that Taliban are offering peace deal from a position of strength. Those leaders who have been chosen as guarantors by Taliban shall think twice if they are pushing the country to dark ages. Governance by Taliban-Al-Qaeda nexus in Afghanistan, Swat, Somalia and Mali shall be enough to imagine what lies for Pakistan in surrendering its sovereignty to a brutal force from medieval times.
