Khyber Pakhtunkhawa minister for sports and tourism, Syed Aqil Shah has said that provincial government would construct an amusement park at the sight where al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden was killed by US seals in 2011.

Talking to media persons on Tuesday, Syed Aqil Shah said that the project would have a zoo, a paragliding club, water sports facilities and a cultural heritage park.

Replying to a query, the minister said that the “development is not intended to counter Abbottabad’s negative reputation following bin Laden’s discovery there. It’s part of a revival of recreational and cultural activities in the province”.

Aqil Shah added that the project would cost $50 million and take five years to complete. Javed Iqbal Abbasi, a lawmaker from the area, hoped the project will improve Abbottabad’s image.
