Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said elections should be held under a neutral president, pointing out that being co-chairman of the PPP, impartial elections were not possible under President Asif Ali Zardari. In an interview with a private TV channel on Thursday, Khan, however, made it clear that the PTI would contest elections come what may. He said those raising the slogan of ‘Go Zardari Go’ had reached an understanding with them. Khan said elections must be held on schedule. However, he warned that there would be a “tsunami march” in case their reservations were not addressed about the election commission. He said though no one doubted the intention and honesty of the chief election commissioner, the situation in the provincial election commissions was evident everyone. Referring to rigging during the by-elections and said no action was taken on their complaints by the election commission despite proofs provided by the PTI. He feared more rigging during the general elections and warned that TMQ chief Tahirul Qadri’s March to Islamabad would not be the last one. He said the PTI would organise a bigger march and warned that there would be bloodshed on roads if elections were not fair and nobody would be able to control the situation. Khan said despite pressure from the workers, the PTI did not participate in the long march fearing it could cause damage to democracy. The PTI chief advised Qadri to end the sit-in, saying it was Qadri’s victory as it was not just any protest but the beginning of ‘change’. Khan also said the PTI would not enter into an alliance with any party.

  2. To stay in politics in this country you have to act like an ordinery citizen first. No one likes highbrows infact they are despised and Imran has not learned it so far.PTI has taken a nose dive and he would be the last man to admit. The man appears to be lacking political acuman grossly and now with the emrgence of another potent force PTI will take a back seat with masses.

  3. Imran is establishment's tool, he should really leave our country in the hands of REAL democratic anti establishment forces like PMLN and PPP. It will take a few decades for democracy to mature so it does not matter if democratic leaders are most corrupt people in Pakistan and it doesn't matter they were born and nurtured by dictators. It doesn't matter they spend more time dealing than leading , at least we have REAL democratic leaders.

    Go away Imran!
