Respecting women

Like a sunflower which naturally needs to turn to the sun, human nature also needs to be cherished and cared for. Unfortunately, it is the girl child who faces restrictions and prohibitions in the name of being cherished and respected. These ‘do’s and ‘don’ts’ raise girls to be dependent and unable to stand up for their own rights. I regret to say that we do not giving equal rights to women. For example, in work situations there are so many women, engineers, doctors, lawyers, teachers and other professionals, who do work beside men but most people prefer men for their professional services. We do not accept that they are as talented as males. It’s clear that sex distinctions are not only unfair but also counter to human dignity. These discriminations against women are directly and indirectly damaging women’s abilities and potential. They cannot raise a healthy future generation if they themselves lack opportunities, face discrimination, unfair treatment, mental and physical torture. There is a huge gender gap which needs to change. No policy, no programme, no foreign aid and certainly no government can change women’s status alone, unless we change our mindset, our thinking, our attitude, and our perception towards women.
We have to change our mindset that she is also a human being. She has desires, wishes, dreams, abilities, capabilities like any man and when we will realise, recognise and admit this reality, we will be able to make a healthy, balanced and happy
