Modernisation ruined our society

With the rapid increase and advancements in the society, no doubt the world has transformed into a global village. Technology has not only facilitated our lives but also made everything electronic and robotic, I must say it has turned our emotions, behaviours and characters just like a piece of machine, which can be played, resumed, can be move forward or backward or even stop. We can observe laptops taking control over huge PCs, mobiles sliding away home telephones. Now gradually these rapid advancements have led to flake away our own identities as well. I see humanitarianism dragging away from our society just like appliances, which we used, controlled them, and now we do not even know where we have thrown them in our house.
I see race in our life, race of status, race of wealth and even race of our personalisation, how we look, what we wear, in which hotel we eat and most important part of life is “how many cars you have”. Beside this, I see robots moving on the roads with no sentiments; they are remote controlled people who work in accordance to the button. Each button of remote makes us perform several functions, and we, “the robots”, move according to them. Selfishness has taken place over mercy, hand shaking dragged away hugging and internet killed meeting people. Now we prefer chatting or texting instead of going to see each other.
This well-organised behaviour and robotic life has changed our society, what we miss is humanitarianism. People used to go each to others’ homes. Sharing our emotions made us feel healthy. The robotic sources and techniques are killing our social and cultural norms one by one. Today our norms, values and traditions are changed. I must say modernisation has blessed us with several facilities but we have indulged so much in this that we have gone far away from our lives. Today we do not live for ourselves; we live in accordance with our society. We perform how society has made us.
Segregation from the religion has made us blind humming birds, which cannot see themselves but see how others treat us. We judge ourselves according to the comments and behaviours of others. The reason behind this is segregation from the religion. In our society, we used to consider it our obligation to condole with people who lost their loved ones and participate in their funeral. However, today we don’t go to them personally and say, “We will visit them someday”. How did this happen?
Where are we going? What’s the meaning of our life? When our life did not depend on the advanced techniques, we were happier. But this modernisation has killed mercy and care for each other. We have gone far away from the religion and we are already living in under the shadows of terrorism. This situation didn’t happen abruptly; we gave room to these things to happen. I am not saying that we should not use modern facilities, but we should also not kill humanitarianism, we should not kill mercy, we should not become selfish, and we should care for others. Being Muslims, we should not adopt the western lifestyle.
