An Islamabad session judge on Saturday disposed of a petition filed by the Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran(TMQ) alleging harassment and arrests of TMQ workers by police.
The Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Pirzada and Inspector General Islamabad Police Bani Amin Khan through their representatives assured the court that neither the district administration nor the police had arrested or harassed the TMQ workers. Assistant Commissioner Noman Yousuf, Assistant Commissioner Imran Ali Sultan and Advocate Rizwan Abbasi represented the district administration in the court.
Earlier, petitioner Guftar Hussain advocate, who is also president Pakistan Awami Tahrik; the political wing of the TMQ, had pleaded before the court that the police and district administration were harassing the party’s workers. He alleged that the district administration on Thursday tried to dismantle the reception camp set up by the TMQ.
Meanwhile, installed mobile bath rooms for the participants of January 14 long march. TMQ directed participants to bring food and water on the first day of the march. TMQ office-bearers alleged that caterers had been forbidden by the government to provide food to the participants of long march. TMI has deployed 7000 volunteers to ensure security and smooth proceedings during the march. Meantime, Islamabad administration decided to impose Section-144 in the capital.
Moreover, leaders of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) warned Dr Tahirul Qadri of unintended consequences if he did not call off the long march. Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said that “Tahirul Qadri does not enjoy support of any political party and it is his misunderstanding to bring about a revolution with the help of people from seminaries”. Talking to media at Karachi airport, he said “the long march will entail nothing at all”. PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo demanded from Tahirul Qadri to review his decision of long march slated for January 14. Federal minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Manzoor Wattoo urged the religious to tread the path of elections and then table the reforms bill in the Parliament. PPP’s Deputy Secretary Information Sharjeel Inam Memon said that “there is difference between running a seminary and a country; hence, Dr. Qadri should not do that in which he is not experienced. Derogatory words about the elected members of the Parliament are condemnable and no one would be allowed to take the nation hostage”.

  1. Everyone has gone into panic mode, because all these politicians are feeling guilty in front of the masses and have no answer for their performance for the past 5 years….what the masses have got in these five years except death…..

  2. wattoo seems to be biggest crook suggesting to make reforms in a parliament which consist of crooks . LISTEN PAKISTANIS WAKE UP FIRST REFORM AND THEN ELECTION AND THEN PARLIAMENT THAT WILL WORK FOR THE COUNTRY . AND ITS JANTA. FOLLOW DR QADRI AND VOTE FOR IMRAN KHAN . CHANGE YOU GHAFIL QAUM..

  3. There is no justification for the march except that it is the last attempt to create a Libya, Egypt and Syria like situation. But Allah is the custodian of this nation, Qadri is niether a liar and an agent of anti Islam forces from within and abroad. Pakistan is going fine we had such like situation in 80s the only difference is it is USA instead of USSR. USA wants an un stable Pakistan when they leave Afghanistan. The only problem with Pakistan is the corrupt government employees and not the politicians. They need a rod and they know can do it so they do not want PML-N in power which is on cards if fair elections are held. Media is anti Pakistan sorry but that is the truth.
