The Lahore High Court on Monday disposed of a petition for recovery of alleged missing Canadian national, a Sikh woman named Rajvindar Kaur Gill.
The single bench comprising Justice Sardar Tariq Masood heard the petition filed by Sikandar Singh Gill, father of missing woman.
Earlier, DSP Organised Crime/investigation officer appeared before the court and submitted a report wherein it was stated that a case had been registered at Sarwar Road Police Station against the kidnap of alleged missing woman. He further pointed out that an accused Hafiz Shahzad Ahmad had been arrested and laptop of Rajvindar had also been recovered from him and it had been identified by the girl’s father. The petitioner’s counsel said that Rajvindar’s bank accounts were being operated from Switzerland, therefore, directions should be issued to stop the transactions. The counsel further said that he would be satisfied if investigations were directed at collecting bank account details and mobile phone data to find the missing woman. After hearing the arguments, the court disposed of the matter, directing the investigation officer to investigate the case fairly. Sikandar Gill, in his petition, submitted that his daughter arrived in Pakistan on August 25 to attend an exhibition of diamonds in Lahore. However, he said, she had gone missing since then. He asked the court to direct the police to find Ms Gill and produce her before the court.\ Meanwhile, a Cantt court on Monday handed over the accused Hafiz Shahzad Ahmad, allegedly involved in kidnapping of Canadian woman, to police on a five-day physical remand and directed to produce him again on January 12.
The accused Shahzad Ahmad told the reporters that he along with Shahid Ghazanfar received Rajvindar Kaur from airport and threw her body in Khanpur Canal after killing her. It is important to mention that main accused Shahid had fled to Germany and efforts were being made to arrest him through FIA.
