Fire erupts at four places, reduces valuables to ashes

LAHORE – Valuables worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes when fire broke out at four different places including a local garments factory and the Shah Alam Market on Sunday. Fire erupted at a local garments factory located at the main Ferozepur Road near the Awan Market due to short-circuit.
Flames engulfed three floors of the four-floor garments manufacturing unit and reduced valuables worth millions of rupees to ashes. Three labourers fell unconscious due to heavy smoke while trying to extinguish the fire. Security guards tried to extinguish the fire at their own but later informed the fire brigade and Rescue 1122 officials, who after reaching the scene extinguished the fire after struggling for around three hours.
Speaking to media, garments factory owner Tahir said that heavy electricity wires were passing close to the factory’s front. He said a short-circuit produced flames which engulfed flammable in the factory’. Security guard Liaqat said that they were sleeping when they felt heat of fire on which they initially tried to control the fire on their own but failed to do so.
He said that due to heavy smoke, they all fell unconscious but were later rescued by the Rescue 1122 and fire brigade officials. Separately, fire erupted in a shoe factory located at second floor of the Ibrahim Plaza in the Shah Alam Market. The fire erupted due to short circuit and reduced valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees to ashes.
Rescue officials, after being informed, reached the spot and extinguished the fire after an hours effort. Rescue officials said a short circuit in the transformer located in front of the plaza sparked and a fire erupted in the shoe factory where leather products were present. In another incident, a fire erupted in a house and reduced valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees to ashes in the Johar Town Police Station precincts.
Rescue officials said the fire broke out in a house located at A2-Block of Johar Town. Rescue officials said the fire erupted because of a gas heater and reduced valuables worth thousands of rupees to ashes.
In the fourth incident, fire broke out in the Hameed Clinic located at the main Ferozepur Road reducing valuables including medicines and furniture worth thousand of rupees to ashes. Rescue officials, after reaching the spot, controlled the fire.
