Lt Gen (r) Asif Yasin Malik has said terrorists want to put the nation on trial by hitting the airport but professional capabilities of our forces made them retreat.
“The terrorists targeted Peshawar airport to put our capabilities to test but they met failure. Our forces kept them two kilometers far from airport by giving them a tit for tat response”, he said while talking to media men after passing out parade of personnel of anti-terrorism force here on Saturday.
He added: “Terrorists entered into our territory from across the border as they had succeeded in purchasing the loyalties of some of our people. Monitoring of the borders is being conducted to counter onslaughts of the terrorists”, he added. He pointed out that state-of-the-art weapons and equipments were being installed on all the airports. The prime minister will soon accord approval for purchase of high tech equipment, he further said.
He indicated five aircrafts would be leased out by April to meet the shortfall of planes in PIA. “We are working on plans in phases to steer PIA from crises”, he held.
Responding to a question on Pak-Afghan ties, he said Pakistan was eager for good friendly relations with Afghanistan. Our existing ties will further improve till 2014.
He stated that 37 personnel of this force including five women had completed counter terrorism course and they would be deployed on seven main airports of the country.

  1. Likewise it is very interesting that some cases acquired great hype only to be forgotten afterwards. There was also unique example when SC registrar was asked to keep public funds and invest them. As if he was a super investor.
