The 6th flyover of Rawalpindi will be opened to vehicular traffic today, Punjab Highway XEN Jamshed Ahmad said on Saturday.
Ahmad said Rs 1042 million were spent on this flyover. “The bridge is 248 meters long and will be opened for traffic of all sorts on Sunday. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif will formally inaugurate this project next week,” he said. He said although the project was expected to be completed on January 23, “handwork led to the accomplishment of the project ahead of schedule”. “Rawalpindi Commissioner gave a green signal to open the flyover to vehicular traffic on Thursday but a tug of war between the Highway department of Punjab and the NLC caused the delay,” he said.
