All political parties have fallen under Tahirul Qadri phobia. What these political parties failed to achieve in five years, Qadri has done in one day. Now that the PML-N and PPP have joined hands to oppose Qadri and his political agenda, the nation should not forget that these are actually the erstwhile political opponents of each other. The fear and consequences of long march has brought their leaders again close together to oppose this march which is basically meant to get rid of the corrupt politicians who have looted and plundered this country for the last 65 years.
There is no justification shouting and condemning Qadri. Opposition’s major objection is that he has come at a time when elections are being held; secondly, he has come from Canada after five years with dual nationality. This is only a personal matter of the individual. We have legislators with dual nationality, we have ministers with fake degrees, we have ministers involved in mega corruption. These objections are ridiculous. While criticising him, it should be kept in mind that he is a Pakistani. As for as coming at this stage when the elections are being held is concerned, it is totally irrelevant. It is for him to decide when to come, a right decision must be taken at the right time and that’s what he has done.
He has just one demand that elections should be held according to the constitution of Pakistan and candidates for elections must be cleared by the Election Commission of Pakistan under article 62 and 63 of the constitution. Is it an unfair demand? The opposition to Qadri is not because of his dual nationality or his coming at wrong time but for his demanding vetting of applicants under article 62 and 63 of the constitution that if implemented, 99 percent of present lot of politicians will stand disqualified. That is what has unnerved the present political clout.
The status quo will have to be changed for the survival of the country. All the political stakeholders should support him to bring about reforms that are long due and which this country deserves.
