Rawalpindi police has chalked out a comprehensive security plan for the chelum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). According to the plan, the Rawalpindi police had sought the services of 5,000 police personals to ensure the implementation of stringent security measures. To ensure effective security for the central chelum procession, the special branch of police, Elite Forces, Punjab constabulary, women police, PQR Rangers and the members of peace committee would perform duties on the occasion. CCTV cameras would be installed at different points of the procession route while no one would be allowed to stand on the balconies and roof tops of their houses laying in way of the procession. Before the start of the chehlum procession, special checking would be carried out on important routes to avoid any untoward incident from happening. All those coming to the procession would be frisked and would have to pass through walk through gates installed at different locations. All roads leading to the procession area would be sealed with barbed wires. Meanwhile, parking of cars and motorcycles near sensitive areas would also be banned and aerial surveillance would be actively carried out during the procession.
