Central leaders of National Party have said intelligence agencies had been selecting their favourites in elections in the past and warned if they attempted to do so in the upcoming elections, the situation in Balochistan would go out of control.
This sentiment was expressed by National Party President Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, General Secretary Tahir Bizenjo and Senior Vice President Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo while addressing a news conference at MPA Hostel on Tuesday. They said if any attempt was made to interfere in free and fair elections then it would be impossible to bring the situation under control.
They said the country was confronting multi dimensional problems and the present government after completing nearly five years of tenure had failed to meet the peoples’ expectations. They said both federal and provincial governments failed to deliver for being non serious in tackling the issues which the country faced. They said dead bodies of over 500 political youths had been found on the streets while the issues of enforced disappearances and human rights violations persisted and the IDPs of Dera Bugti and Kohlu were still forced to live in miserable conditions.http://archive.pakistantoday.com.pk/wp-admin/post-new.php
The National Party leaders said Balochistan had been a liberal province but under a well thought-out conspiracy, sectarian violence was unleashed which claimed hundreds of innocent lives. They said abduction for ransom had become a profit earning racket in the province and the people involved in it were doing their business with impunity. They said that even main highways were being ruled by criminals and robbers while most of the educational institutions remained closed.
They said agriculture was the backbone of Balochistan but the sector was facing serious problems due to dearth of water and long hours of load shedding. They said the chief minister, who remained in Islamabad mostly, did not bother to look into these smoldering issues. They were opposed to the idea of a delay in the upcoming general elections and maintained that any elements pursuing such an agenda will not be allowed to succeed, adding that only holding transparent and impartial elections could resolve the problems faced by the country.
They said some quarters in the politicians’ cadre had been raising voices to postpone elections in the name of reforms but their demand would damage democracy.
Dr Abdul Malik said his party had launched the election campaign both in Pashtunn and Baloch dominated areas of the province. He said his party was ready to hold talks on seat adjustment with all political parties and an understanding in this regard had already existed with Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M).
Malik said the government would have to pay attention to provide safety and protection to the masses adding that his party did not want isolation of Balochistan’s leadership from mainstream politics.
Senator Mir Hasil Bizenjo praised the efforts of Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa Senior Minister and central leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Bashir Bilour who was assassinated in a suicide attack.
