Justice (Retd) Ali Nawaz Chowhan has been appointed Chief Election Commissioner for conducting the annual election of Lahore Gymkhana Club for year 2013 to be held here on Dec 29.
Permanent members of the club Asad Ali Khan and Jehangir Mirza would assist the election commissioner to hold free and transparent election.
Around 4,355 permanent members of the club would exercise their right to vote to elect a 12-member management committee.
It was the old tradition of the club that it always witnessed a hot contest between candidates of both panels including independent candidates.
Meanwhile, Gymkhana Club Chairman Muhammad Zia Ur Rehman told APP here on Sunday that he along with other elected members during a short span of one year did a lot for the overall improvement of the club which now included better quality of food coupled with good service besides holding regular fairs, concerts, awareness seminars and gym in addition to proper facilities such as guest rooms, cafes and restaurants.
He said that if his entire panel was voted to power once again, he would definitely further make significant betterment in all sections of the club.
