The international anti-corruption day is celebrated globally on the 9th of December every year. This year is no exception and the National Accountability Bureau, the prime organization fighting against corruption, is celebrating the day with zeal and fervor all over Pakistan.
The Sindh NAB is fully geared towards fulfilling its responsibilities. The prime purpose of NAB is to identify, prevent and create awareness against the dreaded plague called corruption. NAB, in collaboration with Hamdard School of Law organized a very well-attended seminar “good governance and the menace of corruption”.
NAB DG Wajid Ali Khan opened the seminar with his speech. He reiterated the commitment of NAB towards creating confidence in the masses by recovering looted money and returning it to the rightful owners. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Speaker Sindh National Assembly, was the Chief Guest how appreciated the seminar and commended NAB on its performance.
The seminar was addressed by well known speakers, Justice (R) Nasir Aslam Zahid, the well known barrister who became part of the judiciary for twenty years as judge and chief justice of the Sindh High Court, judge of the Federal Shariat Court and judge Supreme Court of Pakistan. He is the dean, faculty of legal studies and head of Hamdard School of Law. Justice (R) Nasir is also the chairperson on the committee for welfare of prisoners.
Barrister Jahanzeb Awan, who is a partner at M/s khalid Anwer & Co, Mr Asad Sayeed, an economist who has been involved as a consultant in several national and international projects. Ms Nida Khan who has specialized in clinical Psychology and is involved with many hospitals in Karachi and internationally, involving special assessments and evolutions of patients. Advocate Mohammad Akmal Wasim, who has been assistant advocate General Sindh and is presently Associate Professor Faculty of legal studies Hamdard University.
The seminar was a positive step towards discussion on various facets of corruption and the importance of implementation and enforcement of rules by NAB.
