Terror in Karachi

Every year we used to make plans to visit Karachi to enjoy the sea sight, but now things have changed. The series of killings and mafia wars prevalent in Karachi have changed the entire situation. We are scared to go there as we might become victims to some thieves or terrorists. The city of Quaid is engulfed in terror and the innocent people of Karachi are handicapped by these mafia.
The provincial government seems totally incapable to control the anti-state elements and the law enforcements agencies have failed to provide protection to people. In fact, attacks on police and rangers in Karachi have aroused a question on their security. Karachi now seems to be some other state where there’s no writ of the government and anyone can do what he feels like. People across Pakistan are hesitant to go to Karachi because they are scared that they might fall prey to terrorists.
Everyday dozens of people are killed, many are injured and street violence has increased manifold but nobody is sincere to sort out the mess. Everyone is busy blaming the other and in this chaos the only people benefitting from it are the terrorists, the mafia and the anti-state elements. We shall not blame anyone as the problem lies within. These terrorists and mafia are able to spread their violence because we are allowing them to do so. As we tighten our grip on them they will automatically refrain themselves from such acts. A common example is the army operation in 90’s, the streets got clear of the criminals, thugs and kidnappers for a long time until we gave them a free hand to initiate their activities again.
It’s up to us that what we want. The day we start sorting out our issues and start taking things seriously everything will get better and life will be back to normal again. I pray that life gets back to normal in Karachi so that people can spend their lives with peace. Ameen!
