The Supreme Court on Monday was informed that the main accused Roohullah in the murder of former Attorney General Sardar Khan has gone to Afghanistan and will soon be arrested and brought back to the country.
A three-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh and Justice Gulzar Ahmad heard the proceedings of the case of escape of the main accused in killing of former AGP Sardar Khan.
During the course of the proceedings, Islamabad Police submitted a progress report regarding the arrest of Roohullah.
The Chief Justice remarked that efforts of Islamabad Police and Rawalpindi Police are not appreciate able in apprehending the accused Roohullah.
The Islamabad Police informed SC that they are making efforts to arrest Roohullah, but the progress is very slow in this regard.
The Rawalpindi Police informed SC that raids are being made in the houses of relatives of Roohullah in Peshawar and Abbottabad, but currently the main accused Roohullah is present in Afghanistan.
The Chief Justice ordered that positive progress should be made in the case within two weeks.
The Islamabad Police sought 4 weeks time to arrest Roohullah.
But the court granted them 2 weeks time to arrest the accused. The SC subsequently adjourned the hearing till 18th December.
