PPP knows that despite its very poor governance, despite mehngai, berozgari and ghurbat, despite the load shedding and despite not building Kalabagh dam it will still get the votes of the jialas who vote for Bhutto and Benazir with their eyes and minds closed. Bhutto destroyed the industrial potential of the country with his ill-conceived policy of nationalisation which also discouraged further investment in the country. Benazir destroyed agriculture by opposing Kalabagh dam and turning her people against the dam. Lack of growth in these two sectors of economy is impacting adversely on investment, production, exports, revenues, prices, jobs, poverty etc. It is only when the poor are told that it is Bhutto and Benazir who are responsible for their poverty will they stop voting for PPP. But even the opposition leaders hesitate to speak the truth about Bhutto and Benazir because of the false aura built around them. Until the Bhutto/Benazir propaganda is fully countered no dent will be made in the PPP vote bank.
