Businessmen to get arms license within two days

Governor Sindh, Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan announced to bear 50 per cent expenses of CCTV cameras and other security equipment to be procured by the traders for surveillance of commercial markets in the metropolis. In a meeting with a delegation of trade representatives led by Tariq Saeed at Governor House the trader associations reviewed progress on understandings of October 25 that were ensured by the governor. The case of granting special licenses to businessmen was also followed up with the governor. It was decided that Karachi Commissioner would issue arms license as per recommendations of FPCCI. The governor also ordered to exempt business men from Section 144 imposed on carrying weapons.
Dr Ebad told the stakeholders that he had taken President Asif Zardari and MQM’s Altaf Hussain into confidence on measures to be adopted to improve the law and order situation of Karachi. He said that the government would procure as many mobile vans as was required by police for patrolling and spot checking at commercial and industrial areas of the city.
Governor was told by the business representatives that order was restored in the markets after deployment community policing system. Governor said that community policing system shall be initiated in rest of the markets and industrial areas as well. Governor also ordered to procure mobile phone locators and to trace locations of all Sims used for threats and extortion with the help of PTA and CPLC.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, Haroon Rasheed, Zakaria Usman, Shoukat Ahmed, Zubair Tufail, Haroon Shamsi, Zubair Chhaya, Ateeq Meer, Sharjeel Goplani and Zain Basheer.
