Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Friday said the US should end drone attacks in Pakistan as Pakistanis were not terrorists, but terror victims, adding that the attacks were brewing anti-US sentiments among the people.
Nawaz was talking to newly-appointed US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson at Raiwind.
During the meeting, both dignitaries discussed bilateral affairs of mutual interest.
The PML-N chief said Pakistan had offered more sacrifices than any other country in the war on terror.
“Therefore, the sacrifices of Pakistani should be respected in the world. Pakistan wants trade, not aid, from the US,” he said.
He said the Pak-US relations should be based on equality and the US should respect the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan.
Nawaz greeted Olson for assuming the office of US envoy to Pakistan, hoping that he would play a role in strengthening Pak-US relationship and cooperation in economic, education and health sectors.
He also hoped that the US, under the renewed leadership of Barack Obama, would play its role for bringing peace in the world.
Olson said the US highly respected the sacrifices of Pakistan in the war on terror and would continue cooperating with Pakistan in various sectors, especially in the energy sector.
He said the war on terror was in the interest of the entire world.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Khawaja Asif and Tariq Fatimi were also present on the occasion.
