On the direction of Additional IG/CCPO Aslam Tareen departmental action was initiated on Friday against eight SHOs of the city for employing delaying tactics on applications of the citizen and non registrations of FIRs during the month of October.
SHOs against whom departmental action has been ordered, on the initiative of SSP (IAD) Shariq Kamal include SHO Shahdara Inspector Sabtain Shah, SHO Data Darbar Inspector Muhammad Javed, SHO Naulakha Inspector Muhammad Javed, SHO Factory Area Inspector Mukhtar Alvi, SHO Iqbal Town Inspector Sarwar, SHO Kotlakhpat Inspector Nazim Nazir, SHO Model Town Inspector Waqar Ashraf, and SHO Raiwand Inspector Rafi Ullah.
These SHOs were accused of using delaying tactics in FIR registration and applying wrong sections of law which were subsequently corrected on intervention of Citizen Feed Back Cell (CFBC).
The action was taken by the CFBC on the feedback obtained from the people who had lodged their complaints against the said SHOs The cell, established on instructions of the CCPO, headed by SSP Internal Accountability Division (IAD) Shariq Kamal, contacted 2227 people who had lodged complaints during the preceding month. Of them 1903 informed that legal action had already been taken on their complaints while action on 324 applications was found pending. The CFBC head took notice of the situation and issued instructions to the concerned SHOs to take appropriate legal action on such complaints, on which 190 FIRs were registered and action is under process on 134 applications.
SSP IAD Shariq Kamal has warned that in future if any SHO was found guilty of negligence or using delaying tactics, he would not be spared and strict action would be taken against such defaulters. The CFBC would pay spot visits to the police stations where those having complaint of non-registration would be called and handed over with a copy of FIR besides taking action against the SHO concerned for non-registration in cases which merited registration of a case.
