A series of passionate love letters written by Mick ¬Jagger in 1969 are to be auctioned next month.
The Rolling Stone sent the notes, said by Sotheby’s to reveal him as a “poetic and self-aware” 25-year-old, to his then secret lover, American singer Marsha Hunt. Marsha, now 66, went on to have 69-year-old Jagger’s first child, Karis, and inspired the Stones’ 1971 hit Brown Sugar. She is selling the love notes to raise funds for ¬repairs to her French home.
“The letters speak for Mick at an incredible juncture of our lives,” said Marsha. “Our delicate love affair remains as much part of his secret history as his concerns over the death of Brian Jones.” The 10 letters, along with song lyrics, are expected to fetch up to £100,000. – A SETLIST scribbled on an envelope by Elvis Presley for one of his final shows in Las Vegas is tipped to sell for £4,000 at an auction in LA. Elton John and David Furnish will have their hands full this Christmas, as the couple are said to be expecting their second child. The pair have one son already, Zachary, and tabloid reports today suggest that the millionaire couple will expand their family before the end of the year with the help of a surrogate mum. It is believed that the same woman has acted as surrogate for both children. “They are over the moon,” says a surrogacy source to The Sun newspaper, before discussing the unknown woman with whom the pair have an arrangement. “Elton and David love this lady like a sister and they feel indebted to her for life.
