Last year, on 14 February, the Supreme Court of Pakistan directed the government to withdraw re-employment notification of Mr Waseem Ahmed, then Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and other police officers re-employed on contract basis.
In compliance with the directions of the apex court, the federal government terminated the contract of selected police officers. However, Mr Waseem Ahmed was allowed to continue in office. Later on, he resigned from the post of DG FIA.
According to media reports, Mr Waseem Ahmed has been again re-employed by the Sindh government as Additional Chief Secretary (Home), and perhaps interacting with the Supreme Court in this capacity (through personal appearance or/and submission of reports on law and order in Sindh).
May I ask the concerned authorities if the re-employment of Mr Waseem Ahmed as Additional Chief Secretary (Home) not against the spirit of the directions/orders/observations of the Supreme Court regarding re-employment of retired civil servants blocking promotions of deserving and competent officers?
