A large number of people visited graveyards on Eid to offer fateha prayers for the peace and tranquillity of their departed loved ones. Old people, women, children and youngsters began visiting cemeteries on the evening of 9th Zil Haj and continued till Monday, the third day of Eid-ul-Azha, to remember their departed family members and friends. They showered rose petals, placed floral sheets and wreaths and lit incense at the graves of their dear ones. A few people preferred to visit the last resting places of their loved ones early morning on Eid day. Special stalls were also set up near graveyards in the twin cities, for visitors to buy flowers, rose water and petals. Ahsan Riaz, 21, who came to offered fateha on the grave of his father who passed away two months back, said, “I am feeling lonely as it is my first Eid after my father’s death”. “My brother passed away in a road accident five years ago, but I still miss him on every happy occasion. He was my best friend and I used to share everything with him. I miss him too much”, said Owais Ghani, with tearful eyes. Asif Kamal, a flower seller outside the H-10 Graveyard, said, “We set up special stalls a day before Eid for people’s convenience, as many visit the graveyards after morning prayers.”
