Through the courtesy of your newspaper, I would like to thank and salute the personnel of bomb disposal squad who put their lives at risk and defused a remote control bomb in North Nazimabad in Karachi on Thursday 25 October which was also a day of Eid-ul-Azha for Bohra community.
What was painful to watch on television was that the person who was dismantling the bomb circuit was not equipped with necessary gears. The poor bomb squad officer was without a helmet and had a small knife type cutter to cut the tapes in which the bomb was wrapped. I wonder whether the government has any funds allocation for this department whose courageous officers perform without any safety gears to save the lives of hundreds of people every time an unexploded bomb is found. The government needs to understand importance and necessities of this department.
