The British government’s decision to impose restrictions on travel of Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Railways to UK is a welcome decision. Bilour, a controversial man of ill-repute, who is responsible for destruction of Pakistan Railways indulged in cheap popularity tactics when he placed head money on the man responsible for making an insulting film on the Prophet to please religious fanatics. While such a move is appropriate in accordance with British Law, it would also serve the interest of religious inter-faith harmony, if laws are enacted to ban hate speech, writings and films which hurt feelings of people belonging to other faiths. It would also be in the fitness of things, if political activities of men who incite violence in other countries such as target killings in Karachi are also placed immediately with the same fervor and intent as the imposition of a ban on Mr Bilour from entry into UK. The British government must also freeze all bank accounts, if any, in the name of Mr Bilour or his family in the UK and those who incite violence causing deaths of thousands in other countries, especially those who are members of Common Wealth.
