KCCI to fund BBSYDP

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) would fund and technical training programmes and institutes of the province to increase the skill set of the youth and residents of the province.
KCCI President, Haroon Agar pledged support to the provincial team of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme (BBSYDP) for skill development of Youth in the province. In a meeting between Chief Minister’s Consultant on BBSYDP Taimoor Ali, and, BBSYDP provincial Coordinator Karim Bukhsh Siddiqui, Haroon Agar said that “KCCI attaches high importance to youth development”. He said that professional and skilled youth is the future of Pakistan and collective efforts of public and private sector are required to exploit the unexplored and directionless talents of youth. Agar highlighted the need of producing skilled human resource as per requirements of industries. He told that KCCI and BBYSDP have already signed MoU for mutual cooperation.
Karim Bukhsh Siddiqui, appreciated the pivotal role of KCCI to promote trade and industry to fortify national economy and creating employment opportunities. He also sought continued support from KCCI for BBSYDP programmes. He informed KCCI President that BBSYDP was launched in 2008 and it has empowered women of the region. He said that BBSYDP was the pioneer social sector reform program in the history of the country and the results of training needs assessments will enable BBSYDP and other stakeholders in Public and Private Sectors to set training needs in context of the skills required by industries. He informed that 118,884 unskilled, semi-skilled and semi-educated unemployed youth have received training in both Public and Private training streams of BBSYDP out of which 37193 females have been trained in different sectors in last three phases and 3085 are enrolled in current trainings. Training Needs Assessment was conducted first time in Pakistan in skill trainings designed by World Bank and ILO with zealous support and collaboration of KCCI and FPCCI.
KCCI Vice President Nasir Mehmood and BBSYDP Chairman Technical Committee,Abida Lodhi Program Coordinator, Masooma Rizvi, R&D Coordinator and other officials also participated in the meeting.
