Tarbela dam is a jewel in the crown of Pakistan’s agriculture. It increased canal supplies by 25 percent. The total cultivated area in the country increased by about 13 percent from 19.5 million hectares before Tarbela to 22 million hectares presently. 20 million acres are yet lying barren and are waiting for another dam like Tarbela. With the example of a dam like Tarbela why do we stand paralyzed into inaction? Should we wait 15 years or even more before another dam like Tarbela comes to our rescue?
