UHS announces entrance test results

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore declared the result of Entrance Test 2012 for admission to medical and dental colleges of the Punjab on Friday. A total of 36,100 candidates appeared in the Entrance Test held on September 23, out of which 16,065 scored more than 60 percent marks. As many as 5737 scored 50 to 59 percent whereas 5378 candidates secured 40 to 49 percent marks. A total of 8920 candidates scored less than 40 percent marks. It is pertinent to mention that according to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s regulations, the pass/fail criterion is abolished for the medical colleges’ entrance test. Kanza Noor Butt from Gujranwala got the first position securing 1082/1100 marks whereas Ali Haider Jafry of Lahore and Awais Raza of Lahore bagged second and third position by securing 1077/1100 and 1067/1100 marks respectively. The eligible candidates will compete for 3305 MBBS and 216 BDS seats in 19 public sector medical and dental colleges respectively. Besides, there are 3050 MBBS and 725 BDS seats available in 28 private sector medical colleges and 12 private dental colleges of the province. The admission forms for government medical and dental colleges will be available from October 31 to November 10. All those candidates who have secure at least 80 percent aggregate marks according to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s formula will be eligible to apply for admission. The last date for submission of application forms shall be November 10. The first selection list will be displayed on November 26 whereas classes in all public sector medical colleges of the Punjab will commence on December 13.
